Welcome to Tofino

Plan For Fun-Filled Days

Prepare to be inspired by the wild. Tofino is located along the stunning west coast of Vancouver Island on the traditional territory of the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nations, within the naturally rugged Clayoquot Sound UNESCO Biosphere. Where else can you surf year-round, explore untouched rainforests and dine at world-renowned restaurants all in one coastal village? Don’t let Tofino’s size fool you — our town makes a lasting impression with its vivid natural beauty, cultural diversity, exciting local events and accessible activities for all ages. Make the most of your visit by familiarizing yourself with all that Tofino has to offer.

MAKE A SPLASH

Welcome to Canada’s cold-water surfing capital. Zip into a wetsuit from our on-site Pacific Surf Co. location then choose between hanging ten at any of Tofino’s many surfable beaches, or stand up paddleboard (SUP, for short) in the calm waters of MacKenzie Beach, directly in front of your cabin.

EXPLORE THE WILD

Whales and otters and bears, oh my! Endless wilderness opportunities await in Clayoquot Sound. Ask our adventurous staff about booking a whale watching excursion (March through October), a day trip to the mystical Hot Springs Cove or a guided wildlife tour. If you prefer exploration by foot, we’d be happy to recommend a hike for any and all skill levels.

FOCUS ON WELLNESS

Nothing pairs better with an invigorating dip in the waves than a relaxing day at the spa. Peruse this helpful list of our local spas and wellness destinations, and let us know if we can help with booking an appointment. If you’d rather namaste at the resort, we are proud to offer seasonal outdoor yoga lessons right on MacKenzie Beach. Whether you choose to enjoy a cedar-infused kelp treatment from the spa, or simply take some deep breaths in the rainforest, we promise you’ll leave Tofino a more blissed out version of yourself.

ENJOY THE BEACH

There’s an activity for all ages in Tofino—and they all begin at the beach. Walk for miles along sandy shores, or curl up to enjoy our magnificent storm watching season (November to March) as massive swells greet the shoreline. When the sun is shining, suit up your little ones in wetsuits and let them run wild on the pristine stretches of MacKenzie Beach. Join them as they get to know the creatures of the tidal pools, or pull up a chair and create your very own relaxation station, just in time for sunset.

STAY ACTIVE

Keep your head above water with the wide range of activities available in Tofino. From year-round 9-hole at Long Beach Golf Course (plus an 18-hole mini course for the kids) to a guided sea kayak tour along the coast, Tofino’s natural landscape is a perfect match for your high-energy vacation. Break a sweat by hiking one of our local mountain ranges, stretch it out with a private yoga lesson or enjoy the catch of a lifetime on a guided fishing excursion. Ask our staff about booking an experienced fishing guide to take you out to sea (or fly you in somewhere more remote), if you’re interested in reeling up a local salmon, cod or halibut.

Rentals & Lessons

Enjoy the convenience of Pacific Surf Co. SUP and surf lessons and rentals, on-site at Ocean Village. Whether you’re a first timer or a seasoned shredder, we’ll pair you with the right gear and the best instructor for the job.

Tastes of the Coast

From local brews and spirits to coastal-inspired mouth watering meals—the only thing more famous than our waves are our chefs. Satisfy your craving for both fine dining and surf n’ turf at any one of Tofino’s award-winning restaurants and eateries.

Local Events

No matter what time of year you visit, there’s an exciting local performance or community event to be enjoyed. Join us in March for the Pacific Rim Whale Festival, or stop by in June for the three-day extravaganza that is the Tofino Food and Wine Festival.
